Mystery Man

"God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end." Ecclesiastes 3:11

The following is an excerpt from "Green's Not Your Best Color" by Mieka Phillips:

" God is mysterious. He uses that elusiveness to draw me closer to him. He calls me to trust him even though it is an intangible faith that binds me to him. I cannot touch God. I cannot physically see him with my eyes. I cannot see what he is doing. But because I have faith in him and his Word, I trust that God is there. As Jesus reminds me in his Word, I cannot see the wind, but I know it is there because of the effects it has on the things around it (John 4:8). Trees sway with the wind's rhythm, leaves scatter from contact with the wind, and goose bumps pop up when the wind hits your skin. These are all visible results of the work of an invisible force.

God's intangible and invisible being is like the wind. We can't see it with our eyes, but its effects on our lives are felt everywhere. I cannot see his love for me, but he sent his Son to die for me, so I know that is love. I cannot always see the plans that he has for me, but he put me here on this earth, so I can take that as proof that he has work for me to do. I did not see God create the mahesty of this world. But when the trees change color, it reflects the beauty of his creation. The seasons dance in and out, their splendor giving honor to God- yet again providing proof that God designed our world. So, although we cannot see the intangible, the longer we bask in God's presence, the more we should be able to sense and proclaim that God is close."

Alright, so maybe you've been feeling like me lately... and wondering what God is doing in your life? I mean, why did your best friend suddenly move to Kansas? Why did you fail that geometry test? Why did it rain today? Whatever the problem may be, it's not what you wanted and so it must not be according to his plan. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong! It is his plan. It might just be that it makes us as humans uncomfortable.

Of course it would be awesome to know what God's plan is, but if you're like me, and are still happily content waiting for that special someone, then you know that the wait is worth the while. Would you have been half as anxious to read Deathly Hallows if you already knew the ending? Probably not. To experience a new culture if you knew it meant that you would have to burn all your personal possessions...Probably not! See my point? Waiting is hard- but oh so worth it.

God is a mystery man. He alone knows what he's doing. Personally, I'm thrilled to be along for this crazy, but wonderful ride.

Have a great night,

~Firefly~

p.s.- stay tuned for my next entry, which is a review of the Hannah Montana movie!
